ABOUT PROBE

A debugging proxy and API client for macOS and Windows.

Capture the HTTP and HTTPS traffic of your apps and phones, then inspect, change and replay it. Probe runs on your own computer, and what it captures stays there.

OUR STORY

Probe started in . Its first release shipped on, and it has been improved in frequent releases since.

WHAT PROBE IS

A proxy and an API client in one app.

Probe is a local HTTP and HTTPS debugging proxy. Point an app, a simulator or a phone at it and every request and response shows up in one window, decrypted once you trust Probe's certificate.

From there you can look inside any request, then change what happens to it: pause it at a breakpoint, answer it from a file, send it to another server, rewrite it with a script or slow the network down.

Next to the proxy sits Composer, an API client for building, sending and saving requests, with API Flows to chain them. An MCP server lets AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor work with your traffic.

WHO IT'S FOR

Made for developers and testers.

  • App and web developers

See what your iOS, Android, desktop or browser client really sends, and what comes back.

  • API and backend engineers

Check requests on the wire, stand up mock endpoints and chain calls into tests with API Flows.

  • QA engineers

Reproduce slow networks, errors and unusual responses without touching the app or the backend.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Capture it, change it, build on it.

  • HTTPS interception

Decrypt HTTPS from desktop apps, simulators and phones. Probe creates its own certificate authority, and you trust it once on each device.

  • Traffic inspector

Browse requests as a list or as a tree of domains and paths, search them, and open one to see its headers, body, timing and connection. WebSocket frames are captured too.

  • Map Local, Map Remote and Mock Server

Answer a request from a file, send it to a different server, or run a local mock server that serves canned responses.

  • Breakpoints, scripting and throttling

Pause a request or response and edit it, rewrite traffic with JavaScript, or slow the network down to 3G, LTE or a lossy connection.

  • Composer and History

Build, send and save HTTP and GraphQL requests with collections, environments and auth, and review past sends and their responses in History.

  • API Flows

Chain requests on a visual canvas, carry values from one response to the next, add assertions, and run the flow from the app or in CI.

  • Files

Browse and transfer files on SFTP, FTP/FTPS, S3 and WebDAV servers without leaving Probe.

  • MCP server

Let Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients read your traffic, replay requests and manage rules.

HOW PROBE WORKS

Your traffic, your data.

  • Your traffic stays on your machine

Everything Probe captures is stored on your computer, and Probe does not send it anywhere. A file you export or an AI tool you connect through MCP is your choice.

  • Anonymous, optional usage statistics

Probe sends anonymous usage statistics, such as which features are used. They are on by default, you can turn them off at any time in Settings → General → Privacy, and they never include captured traffic.

  • Your data is yours

Export requests as cURL, raw HTTP or Probe .pro files, and Composer collections as Postman v2.1 JSON. Collections and .pro files are readable JSON.

  • No account needed

Probe does not ask you to create an account or sign in.
